It’s official! All of Summit County’s ski resorts are now open! The 2025-26 ski season has begun.
The first to open
A-Basin made an announcement on October 25th, that they would open on Sunday, October 26th. That would make them the first resort to open in the county. As soon as Keystone heard, they swooped in and opened for the afternoon of the 25th, grabbing the first to open title right out of A-Basin’s hands. A-Basin has done the same to Keystone in the past so they shouldn’t have been surprised.
The lifts are turning at all the Summit County resorts
Two weeks later, as scheduled on November 7th, Copper and Breckenridge opened to skiers and riders. Our neighbor in Clear Creek County, Loveland, started their lifts turning on Saturday the 8th. Our neighbors to the west, Beaver Creek and Vail, generally open just before Thanksgiving. With the limited snow we have had so far this winter, they will probably stick to their plans.
Snow dances needed

A few scattered snow showers have been blowing in occasionally but nothing significant has hit us recently. We need everyone to start their snow dances and get those flakes flying up here. I’m sure the snow will come eventually but those of us anxious for ski season would like prefer it come sooner. In the meantime, the ski areas are busy making snow, working on opening additional terrain as quickly as possible. Regardless, we love that the 2025-26 ski season is here!
Ski Passes
If you don’t have your ski pass yet, you better hurry. Pass prices continue to go up the longer you wait. The Epic Pass will give you access to Keystone and Breckenridge. Copper and A-Basin are on the Ikon. A-Basin is just limited days on the base Ikon but, new this year, if you have the full blown Ikon, not the base, you get full access to A-Basin too. Don’t forget to make your parking reservations for A-Basin on the weekends and holidays. If you don’t need a season pass, the mountains generally offer discounted multi-day passes too. Whatever you do, don’t wait until you are on the mountain and buy your ticket at the ticket window. Those are the most expensive lift tickets you can get, especially around the holidays.
Be safe & have fun! I hope to see you on the slopes!
Stay tuned for a few group ski days we are planning to have this winter at Copper & A-Basin. We are Ikon Pass holders again this year so aren’t skiing Vail Resorts. It’s been a few years since we bought an Epic Pass. We probably need to buy it again before too much longer. It would be great to hit the Outback at Keystone and E-Chair in Breck again!
