Have you seen CDOT’s new plan for the I-70 interchange at Frisco exit 203? It’s quite a change involving sweeping on and off ramps that go around and under Summit Blvd. A four lane bridge spans over I-70 with a new traffic light where the round-a-bout is now. New round-a-bouts direct the traffic in every direction after exiting the highway. Bike & pedestrian crossings are also being added.
CDOT says this project will increase capacity, mobility and safety for all users. Construction is planned to start in Spring of 2026 and continued through Fall of 2028. A winter pause will take place November – March each year. Phase 1 of construction will be to widen the bridge over I-70 from two to four lanes and add a traffic signal at each end. Phase 2 will be to construct the round-a-bouts and reroute the entrance & exit ramps.
The construction may make wait times exiting I-70 even longer at high volume times. It will also push more traffic down Main Street, exit 201. It might be a good idea to take the Dam Road or Swan Mountain Road more often when traveling within the county.
A change has been needed at this exit for quite some time. Like most things, there’s a little extra pain during the improvement process but we hope the I-70 interchange at Frisco exit 203 will be smooth sailing once it’s complete.
