Every February the Banff Film Festival comes to Breckenridge with a selection of short films that inspire and excite. The world tour comes to Breckenridge thanks to the BOEC (Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center). We have been going for several years now. Last year was an online viewing due to the pandemic, which I will admit, just wasn’t the same. This year, we once again made our way to the Riverwalk in Breckenridge for an evening of great films.
A February weekend
This year the festival was the 24th and 25th of February. It is generally on Friday and Saturday nights around the same time every year. Different films are shown each night so you can attend both nights if you like. We usually make an evening of it grabbing a bite to eat in Breckenridge before heading to the Riverwalk.
Charitable cause
This is a fund raiser for the BOEC. The BOEC is a great program worth supporting. Combining charity and great adventure films makes the evening a no brainer. The BOEC provides opportunities for people with mental or physical disabilities to get into the outdoors. The have an adaptive ski program and wilderness program that helps a variety of people enjoy all the amazing adventures Summit County and the Colorado mountains have to offer.
Short films
Every year the films at the Banff Film Festival are a compilation of outdoor adventure films. They range from 5 minutes long to an hour or so. There’s generally some skiing and kayaking or water adventures of some sort. Almost always biking adventures. Often climbing or mountaineering. Fantastic scenery along the way. Generally a few laughs. You will probably leave feeling inspired and ready to go out and do more.
If you haven’t been yet, I recommend you put it on your calendar. Tickets usually go on sale at the beginning of February for the event a few weeks later.
