Summit County data on positive tests, hospitalizations and deaths continue to improve. This is prompting an adjustment to the Covid restrictions put in place by Summit County. While restrictions are still in place, many are loosening allowing more businesses to come closer to normal operations. With Covid vaccines underway, and seeing Covid restrictions loosen, we are hopeful the county can be operating in near normal conditions this summer. That, however, remains to be seen.
Summit County loosens restrictions on local businesses.
Summit County has moved into the looser restrictions of Yellow level. Physical distancing and masks still apply as they always have and probably will for some time yet. The changes are to business capacity. As long as physical distancing can still be practiced, businesses can now house 50% of the allowed occupancy or up to 50 people. Restaurants can serve food and alcohol until 10pm. Those businesses recognized for going above and beyond, known as 5 star businesses, may have even looser restrictions.
Short term lodging for two households
Short term lodging can accommodate up to 10 people from two different households in one unit. When restrictions were tighter, visitors were restricted to staying only with those they lived with.
Ski areas still need reservations
Ski areas are still requiring reservations so be sure and know what you need to do to make reservations and enjoy your time on the slopes. As the snow melts and terrain closes, space may become more limited so be sure and plan ahead.
Events this summer
We are still waiting to see how this plays out. We hope we can get to a point soon where outdoor concerts and festivals are back. We are seeing some live music in restaurants and bars for patrons that are seated six feet apart. Our local venues, like Dillon Amphitheater & Ten Mile Music Hall don’t currently have a summer line up. The towns haven’t announced what they are doing. It is a little early still but we are on pins & needles waiting and hoping for the return of Summit County events. Looser Covid restrictions now give us more hope that this may be possible.
