Memorial Day is the unofficial start to summer all across the country. In Summit County, it is generally cold and rainy. This year we are getting snow. We need a few more weeks before summer arrives in the mountains. That has remained consistent this year even though a lot of other things are different this Memorial Day weekend.
Unfortunately, Coronavirus is impacting how we celebrate Memorial Day. Let’s utilize the change in the way we celebrate and take additional time to remember. Let’s remember those that gave their lives in battle over the years. Let’s remember the sacrifice their families have made, losing their loved ones for us. Let us appreciate the freedoms we have and the toll it has taken on many of us over the years. Let’s remember the battle is never over. We must defend those freedoms with every breath we breathe and remember that it doesn’t come without a cost. However, we must remember to use care when defending our freedom. We must be looking out for the freedom of the masses. The freedom of the young and old, rich and poor, white and black all need our protection. Freedom is a privilege for all Americans. My freedom should not unjustly take away your freedom and vice versa.
This Memorial Day remember to honor the fallen Vets that sacrificed their lives for our freedom. You’re free to choose how best to honor them because of them.
Happy Memorial Day!
